I've written the following book to explain "ranked choice voting" to non-math-savvy voters: "The Goat Spitting Secret: This Comedy Unmasks Why Congress Is Dysfunctionally Nutty" The title words "goat spitting" are a play on the words "vote splitting." There are nine fictional characters, including a member of Congress (in Scene 3), a math professor who explains (in Scene 5) the math behind vote counting, and the main character who flunked out of community college yet wants to understand how the worlds of business and politics work. An economics professor explains (in Scene 6) why using a well-designed election system to elect state legislators -- or ideally members of Congress -- will yield widespread economic prosperity. If you just want to criticize my vote-counting explanations, just read Scene 5, "Math Breakthrough." I'm promoting this book to help convince Oregon voters to approve the November ballot measure that will adopt ranked choice voting for a few specific Oregon statewide elections, including electing Oregon's members of Congress. Also I hope this book will help Alaska voters defeat the November ballot measure that would repeal ranked choice voting in Alaska. Hi Richard, So glad you support the Oregon effort! (An unfortunately uncommon position on this forum). As someone in the target audience, I must say that I don't think this is the most effective means of persuasion. I think it's likely to be interpreted as condescending, bizarre and at times a bit out of touch. It is very creative, though! Props for developing an unconventional way to explain these serious problems.
