The current political situation in Washington DC makes it very clear that money controls both Republican and Democratic members of Congress. Yet the source of this corruption is often overlooked because it involves vote splitting during primary elections and the timing of campaign contributions. In spite of the importance of this money-over-votes influence, I haven't seen articles in Wikipedia or Electowiki that explain what's really going on with elections. So, I've written a new Electowiki article as a step toward educating voters. It's titled "Election blocking tactic." Basically it's money-based vote splitting (by funding "spoiler" candidates) and vote concentration (by legal forms of bribery to withdraw) during primary elections. The obvious effect is that elected Republicans in Congress and elected Democrats in Congress represent the biggest campaign contributors, not the voters. I have two questions: Is there any existing academic terminology about the blocking tactic that I'm overlooking? I've inserted "citation needed" tags where academic article references are needed to meet Wikipedia standards. Do any of you know of any such academic articles?
